Why Does Congress Continue to Ignore The People?

In this modern social networking world we are more connected than ever. There are Twitter accounts and Facebook pages for Senators, Representative, and almost every department of the President’s cabinet. Congressman have open discussions with their constituents. So why is it that Congress has an approval rating of a measly 14%. The whole debt debacle and the lowest approval rating since 1977 show that while Congress pretends to care what their constituents say, they do not actually listen to them. They should be embracing the opportunity to really know what the people want instead of only being worried about what the companies that fund their campaigns want. Their indifference proves they do not belong in office.
